Bikes for Families Recap
The Bikes for Families program brought together children, teens, and adults to promote safe, healthy, and active transportation throughout our community. Participants completed a series of hands-on workshops that included a bicycle safety session led by the Somerville Police Department, as well as a bike maintenance class where Em and Jamal taught participants basic bicycle repair and maintenance skills. Everyone who successfully completed the program received a brand-new bicycle, helmet, bike lights, reflective ankle bands, and a Certificate of Completion. More than just a bike giveaway, the program empowered residents with the knowledge, confidence, and resources to ride safely while strengthening community connections.
